The Game UN:Me: An Psychological Thriller That Blends Survival Horror and Among Us Gameplay

The recent Day of the Devs online presentation unveiled several intriguing upcoming titles, but one in particular has seized the imagination: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo adventure appears to fuse together the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill game with the suspicion-driven heart of Among Us.

"This is a unique game where a girl harboring multiple personalities inside her needs to flee from a maze of the psyche," states developer Yasukazu Kawai.

Stepping Into a Fractured Mind

In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of teenage years. Inside her exist four distinct personas, each with their own fears and drives. These entities can take over at will, unleashing their deep-seated terrors upon her suddenly.

Based on revealed gameplay, much of the action unfolds within a eerie medical facility, while additional clips show the protagonist exploring a abandoned church.

A World of Personal Horror

"What are you fearful of? What causes you uncomfortable?" asks creative lead Shun Sasaki. "High places. Confined spaces. People in power. Things that appear minor to others can activate a deep instinct within us. This game explores that concept — anxieties that are specific to every individual."

The central mechanic revolves around managing the persona that emerges at a particular time. However, these identities will change against your will as you play. During exploration, each soul's anxieties become amplified and assault the protagonist one after another. When the soul shifts, so does the particular terror the player encounters.

Eerie Aesthetics and a Fatal Choice

At first glance, UN:Me displays striking aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill franchise. The hospital is populated by nurses all sporting the identical visage, with unnervingly wide smiles. Patients in the lobby have large flowers where their necks should be. Floral motifs are an ever-present element, juxtaposing organic elegance with unnatural horror.

Yet, UN:Me presents a singular twist. Players must determine which of the four entities inhabiting the heroine is the "true" one. "Each of the souls claims that the body is rightfully them," notes a developer. "During the game, you must determine who is real."

After a player believes a soul is an impostor, they must eliminate it. However, because each soul can lie or obfuscate the truth, it is incredibly simple to make a mistake.

"Maybe you've already destroyed the true [soul] by your own actions," the narration states. "The last one standing might be a fraud. Either way, your decisions are final."

UN:Me does not yet have a confirmed launch window, but it is can be follow on platforms.
