Preview the Reimagined Legendary Journey: This Complimentary Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Debuts Soon.
Players eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait much longer. An free-to-play playable preview will go live on the seventh of January, providing a sizable taste into the game's beginning segments. Notably, any progress achieved within this demo can be imported directly into the full game upon its subsequent release.
Beyond Just a Simple Remake: The Complete Reimagining
This project is a comprehensive reinterpretation of the landmark 2000 role-playing game, initially titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant departure from other series re-releases, like the recently released HD-2D versions, this remake adopts a charming 3D art style. Environments are designed to evoke intricate dioramas, with party members having a appealing toy-like look.
"Taking into account the previous remake, the main quest was still notoriously lengthy. So we reached a determination that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] craft an adventure for contemporary audiences."
Key Gameplay Enhancements and Modernizations
The development team have introduced several changes to update the classic gameplay loop. Among these are:
- Streamlined Field Encounters: Taking a cue from modern role-playing games, weaker enemies are now defeated directly on the field without entering a separate turn-based battle screen.
- Adjustable Battle Pace: Players have the option to speed up combat animations to quickly get past easier fights.
- New Job Mechanics: One completely new vocation has been created for this remake. Furthermore, characters now have the option to master a second vocation, significantly expanding strategic options.
Such refinements seek to mitigate one of the original game's frequent points of feedback: its daunting length. The initial storyline could easily take more than 100 hours to complete. This new edition was expressly designed to improve progression and cut down on any repetition.
