Paceman Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Worries.

'Major setback' for the English camp as Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.

The pace bowler further complicated the fitness woes of the England squad when he left the ground during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his left hamstring post-delivery that he bowled on Saturday.

The England team indicated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time away from the action for further assessment "in the coming hours".

The final Test in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January begins at the end of the week.

The English side has been without fast bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer to a side strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was dropped from the previous Test, then recalled for the fourth Test to fill the void.

Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, then making 28 while batting as one of just three English batsmen to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he came back for the second day's play and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

However, towards the conclusion of that over, he delivered a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt at his leg.

Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test having missed of the third.
